Self Catering, Scottish Highland Accommodation

John and Elaine welcome you to Highland Heather Lodges, a collection of 4 purpose-built luxury self-catered lodges in the picturesque Perthshire countryside at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands.

    Got a question?

    About the Lodges

Each of our luxury lodges are named after the beautiful rivers and glens in the local area and have been constructed by local tradesmen using traditional materials.

The lodges are an ideal base for exploring Perthshire’s Lochs and Glens, the Trossachs and the Scottish Highlands. For those seeking an urban Scottish experience we’re within an hour’s drive of Edinburgh and Glasgow, and are only half an hour away from the historic cities of Perth and Stirling. Most importantly, we’re only a short walk from the small but thriving village of Comrie and a short drive from nearby Crieff.

Take a Virtual Tour of the self-catered holiday lodges, call us on 01764 670440, or book your Highland stay online. Read our Reviews to see what our guests have to say about us and check our FAQs for more information, but please feel free to send us a message using the contact form if you’ve got any more questions. You can also check our Latest News to see any last-minute Scottish breaks that we may have.

    About John & Elaine

We have lived in Comrie for 30 years, having moved from Melrose where John was a Landscape Architect and Elaine was a Building Society Manager. We’re the proud parents of two grown-up children, two beautiful grandchildren, two dogs, 1 horse and 100 free-range hens. We love living the outdoor life in Comrie and always look forward to welcoming new guests to the lodges.

Our first enterprise was Highland Heathers, a small wholesale nursery growing over 140 varieties of heather, we still keep a handful of specimens on display at the lodges for visitors to enjoy. As the years passed we decided that we wanted to diversify and felt that building a handful of self-catered lodges here would give us the opportunity to share the area with visitors and also contribute to the local economy.

After consulting with our architects, we built the four lodges in 2005: Earn, Ruchill, Glen Lednock and Glen Artney. Each of our self-catering lodges are a respectable distance from each other and come with private outdoor hot tubs, giving our guests the opportunity to truly relax whilst enjoying the panoramic scenery of the surrounding fields and mountains.

We’re outdoor folk through and through, and like to keep busy playing tennis, golf, curling, fishing, horse riding and exploring the hills. As such, we’re happy to advise you on all sorts of activities in the local area during your stay. Our 10-acre native oak woodland is a popular location for walkers, as well as the Druid temple excavated in the early 1900s (many of the artefacts from which can be found in the museum in Perth). Whether you are active and want a challenging walk or bike ride, or you prefer to be pampered, there’s something for everybody in Comrie and the surrounding areas.

    Awards & Media

Highland Heather Lodges have been recognised by the Scottish Tourist Board as a Four Star Self-Catering accommodation, in addition to being awarded the Bronze award by Green Tourism. We’re a member of the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers and are proud to have received TripAdvisor’s Certificate Of Excellence in recognition of our consistently high reviews. You can find out what it’s like to stay with us by reading lifestyle blogger Amber McNaught’s article at Forever Amber, we’ve also been mentioned by the Herald and the Sunday Post.

Since opening in 2005, we’ve welcomed hundreds of visitors to the lodges and are proud to have garnered just as many glowing reviews for our hospitality and the lodges themselves. Read what our visitors have to say about us below:
